  • Department of Community and Human Services, Developmental Disabilities Division (KCDDD)
    King County offers a variety of services to individuals with Developmental Disabilities. KCDDD’s website provides information about programs, advisory groups, legislative activities, employment, housing, Access and other services.

  • King County Parent Coalition/ARC of King County
    The King County Parent Coalition is a group of concerned parents, guardians and family members who have come together to take action for members of their family who have developmental disabilities. New members are always welcome. The site offers contact information, a schedule of meetings as well as extensive resource links.

  • The ARC of Washington
    The Arc of Washington state provides services and programs for people with developmental disabilities. The ARC of Washington is affiliated with the ARC of the United States and 11 local ARC chapters in Washington. The website supplies both state and national legislative updates, extensive resources and information about the organization’s parent-to-parent support programs.

  • Social Security Administration
    Social Security Online provides information about Social Security, SSI and Disability.

  • Washington Protection & Advocacy System
    Washington Protection and Advocacy System is a private, non-profit organization that protects the rights of people with disabilities statewide. They provide free advocacy services, including disability rights information and referral; problem solving strategies for disability issues; community education and training; and legal services for disability discrimination or violation of rights.

  • LEAP
    LEAP (Leadership, Education, Advisory, Partnership) is a program developed by ARC of King County to help prepare people with developmental disabilities to assume leadership roles. The focus of the project is to work with a select few individuals and give them the tools necessary to be leaders in whatever capacity fits their individual interests and passions. A nomination form and brochure can be downloaded from the website.

  • SAIL (Self Advocates in Leadership Coalition)
    Sail is a statewide coalition on developmental disabilities that strives to shape public policies affecting the lives of persons with developmental disabilities.

    This book is intended to be a useful tool for adults ages eighteen and over and their families, who want and need support in their search for a job and/or other opportunities for community involvement.
